VUK AND DOSITEJ MUSEUM
The museum was established in 1949 and is located in the Balkan-style building of the former High School, the forerunner of the Gymnasium, founded in 1808. It presents the life, work and legacy of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić (1787-1864), the great reformer of the Serbian language, on the second floor, and Dositej Obradović (1742-1811), a writer who was also the country's first minister of education, on the first floor. The collection includes personal items, portraits and books. The whole thing is not worth a visit if you cannot read or appreciate Serbian.
