This square is surrounded by university buildings and famous monuments. At number 1 of the square, we find today the headquarters of the rectorate of the University of Belgrade. Its building surprises by the mixture of red and ochre colors and by the confusion of styles, Gothic, renaissance and Byzantine. Also visible on the square is the statue erected in honor of the Serbian writer and educator Dositej Obradović (1742-1811). The monument to the Montenegrin poet Petar Petrović Njegoš (1813-1851) is located between the Faculty of Philosophy and the Rectorate.
