While driving up this hill, one kilometer before reaching the top, observe the monument to the Russian generals killed in a plane crash in October 1964, while they were celebrating the 20th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade by the Red Army in October 1944.
At the top is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Dating from 1934, this black marble structure was built on the site of a Zrnov fortress. Eight caryatids each represent a soldier's mother of a different nationality forming the Yugoslavia of the time.
