PREPARANDIJA
Recently proclaimed a cultural monument of primary importance, this building housed the Serbian Orthodox Patriarch from 1895. Then it became a teacher training college.
The gallery houses a permanent exhibition of the naive painter Sava Stojkov. The Preparandija is characteristic of 19th century architecture in Sombor and is an example of historicizing style, with a mixture of neo-Renaissance, classical and Gothic architectural elements. The complex was falling into ruin, and in 1984 it was saved by extensive work.
