The Menrath Palace, dating from 1908, is characteristic of the Hungarian Secession style, a variant of Art Nouveau, which developed at that time in this part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is immediately recognizable for its voluminous balconies and rounded windows. It was designed by the Hungarian architect Lipót Baumhorn (1860-1932) as a residence and business premises for Joseph Menrath, a wealthy furniture dealer in the city. Today the palace is a residential building.
