SERBAL LYCIA

Sremski Karlovci High School, the oldest in Serbia, representing the center of Serbian culture and education where openness to other cultures was emphasized.

Established in 1791 on the initiative of Metropolitan Stefan Stanimirović and thanks to donations from the wealthy merchant Dimitri Anastasijević, it was originally a small, low-rise house with only a few classes. It was not until the end of the 19th century that the building took on its current appearance, made of a mixture of medieval Serbian architecture - windows, columns, decoration - and 1900s secessionism.
