MONASTERY OF BEOČIN

On the other side of the massif, above the village of Béočin, near the Danube, also rebuilt after the Turks. It is a small monastery with a small and harmonious chapel in the park. The church of the monastery of Beočin is dedicated to the Ascension of Christ, the current one was built in 1740 in the Byzantine-Serbian style. While the monastery was not destroyed during World War II, its treasure was looted and all the valuables were taken to Zagreb. Some of them were returned after the war.
