THE LAKE OF PALIĆ

This beautiful oblong body of water, which extends for almost 7 km and is located in an excellent microclimate, often sunny and dry, with a low wind, is a favorite vacation spot for both Serbs and Hungarians. Its 17 km long shores are used by cyclists and walkers with well protected roads. The lake itself offers the possibility to practice kayaking, rowing and windsurfing in good conditions, thanks to nautical clubs. To reach the part, you can also rent small boats and bicycles, usually for 100 to 300 dinars. In the novelties, the electric pedal boats, the bungee jumping. And of course you can swim. In front of you, the half-moon pontoons of the beaches for women have kept their wooden cabins. Thus, the beaches were closed to the eyes of the other sex, as the custom of the Austro-Hungarian Empire required. Numerous private residences and classic hotels dating from the 1900s give the site a slightly nostalgic charm. The 19-hectare park surrounding them invites you to go for a ride on horseback or in a horse-drawn carriage, which were already popular during the Belle Époque. Finally, the mineral substances and the average temperature of 25°C of the lake explain why, since the 19th century, its curative virtues have been exploited by thermal baths. Finally, the small lake, Omladinsko Jezero, just to the left of the big one, is not developed.
