COMPLEXE ETHNO STARO SELO
It was here in 1979 that an already famous designer, Dobrila Smiljanić, had the brilliant idea to gather the most beautiful traditional houses of the surroundings on a hill in the village of Sirogojno, in 1985. In addition to a museum of folk arts and exhibition halls, we have here a typical Western Serbian village completely reconstructed.
Built on a slope, the main house is a čelica. Life there was organized around the central fireplace, but there was a bedroom and a cellar, or podrum, where grain and plants were stored in winter. Further down, on the left, there was a smaller house, square in shape, called the vajat, or workshop, where the barrels were kept. Then, stretching to the right, there is a group of small houses, stores or workshops of the time. The house of the milkman, who made kajmak(sheep's milk cheese), and the salaš, a sort of granary for grain and corn, are also visible. There are seven wooden apartments in the same style as the ones we visited, with interesting but not period interiors, with 2 to 5 beds. When leaving the tourist complex, you can buy the famous woolen sweaters with inventive patterns and shimmering colors.
Also a very nice hotel, cozy dining room, with fireplace, woodwork and embroidered tablecloths. A complete menu not to be missed, called voz, includes čorba, kajmak and pršuta, gibanica, lamb and cake.Seven apartments, outside identical
