CITY OF LAZARUS
The old city built by Lazarus has remained more or less as it was, despite the erosion of the centuries. In 1371, the Serbian king had built a medieval city of 200 m by 300 m, with 2 m thick walls. Little remains of the surrounding wall, but the best-preserved remnant of the ancient city is the keep on the northeast wing.
It is estimated that it was originally four stories high. Still on the east side of the city, the monument to King Lazarus, erected in 1971, represents him seated with his sword across his thighs.
