MONASTÈRE DE KALENIĆ

This beautiful monastery was built in 1415, then abandoned in the 17th century before being restored by Prince Miloš Obrenović in 1823. The church is very recognizable by its Byzantine sculptures. Various scenes decorate the windows: hunting, episodes from the life of Samson, etc. On the north wall of the narthex, a composition depicts the founder Bogdan, his wife Milica and, before them, the despot Stefan Lazarević. In the choir of the nave, the archangels Gabriel and Michael; in the eastern apse, the cycle of the miracles of Christ.
