MARASH DISTRICT
This tiny district (Mahalla e Marashit, Maraš Mahala) can be reached by a pleasant walk along the banks of the Prizrenska Bistrica. In Arabic, marash means "refreshing place". And this is what it means here. Beautifully rebuilt after its destruction in 1999, the district is home to an old plane tree planted at the end of the 16th century and an architectural ensemble (mosque, tekké, mausoleum, houses, fountain, bridge) more or less faithfully following the 19th century Ottoman model. Main interest: cafes and restaurants located at the water's edge.
