IBRAHIM RAUZA
The Ibrahim Rauza complex represents the apogee of the architecture of this period. While the Golgumbaz imposes by its stature, the mausoleum here impresses by its delicacy. Its 24 m high minarets would have inspired those of the Taj Mahal. Inside lies Ibrahim Adil Shah (1580-1626) who would have ordered its construction for his favorite wife, Taj Sultana, but he entered it first. The architect Malik Sandal inscribed in Persian, above the southern door of the mausoleum describing his masterpiece: "Before its beauty, Heaven remained silent."
