SAKTHAN THAMPURAN PALACE
Palace housing a museum with ancient bronze statues, sculptures and a numismatic collection dating back to the century BC.
Built in 1795 by Rama Varma Sakthan Thampuran who ruled the kingdom of Kochi at the time, the palace was previously named Vadakkekara Palace. Today, it houses a museum that is especially worthwhile for its imposing Dutch-style building. It is a two-story building with thick walls and spacious rooms with beautiful marble floors. One can admire ancient bronze statues, sculptures, as well as a numismatic collection whose oldest coins date from the5th century BC. An interesting visit.
