STRONG DANSBORG
Fort built in 1620 by the Danes overlooking the beach, housing an armoury, a prison, granaries for merchandise...
This fort overlooking the beach was built in 1620 by the Danes, with the permission of the king of Thanjavur, which allowed them to trade there. It contained an arms room, a prison, granaries and the governor's apartments. It is now transformed into a museum that traces the violent and romantic history of the trading post, which was ceded to the British in 1845. It contains fragments of porcelain, weapons, the text of the treaty ceding the village to the Danes and very educational panels.
