DODDABETTA PEAK
The highest point of the Nilgiris mountains, with an observatory open to the public at its peak, and 2 telescopes for viewing the plains
Doddabetta Peak is the highest point in the Nilgiris: 2,637 meters. Its verdant slopes are covered by thick forests of shola, a mountain shrub, as well as medicinal plants and different varieties of flowers. There's an observatory at its summit, where, on a clear day, you can see the Chamundi Hills of Mysore and the vast plains of Coimbatore! On site, a myriad of vendors along the way and small stalls for a snack. You can get there easily by taking the bus to Kotagiri (stop at the foot of Hotel Sanjay).
