DODDABETTA PEAK
The highest point of the Nilgiris mountains, with an observatory open to the public at its peak, and 2 telescopes for viewing the plains
Doddabeta is the highest point of the Nilgiris Mountains: 2,637 meters. Its green slopes are covered with thick forests of shola thickets, mountain shrubs, medicinal plants and different varieties of flowers. There is an observatory open to the public at the top with two telescopes to see the Chamundi Hills of Mysore and the vast plains of Coimbatore on a clear day! It is easily accessible by taking the bus to Kotagiri (stop at the foot of the Sanjay hotel).
