MUSEO MINA LA VALENCIANA
Museum in Guanajuato where to discover the Valenciana, one of the important silver mines of Mexico, the two mouths to visit
La Valenciana, discovered in 1548, was one of the most important silver mines in Mexico and passed through the hands of the Spanish, English, French and Americans before becoming the property of the Mexican State in 1942. Its maximum depth is 450 meters and at its peak it was able to accommodate up to 10,000 workers per day. Some of the wells are still active and others are open to the public. You can visit two entrance "mouths", boca San Ramón and boca San Cayetano, and go down to a depth of 70 meters.
