MUSEO PALACIO DE LOS PODERES
Museum in the old Legislative Palace on the site of the Palacio Marquesal de San Clemente and then the seat of legislative powers
The old Legislative Palace stands on the site of what was once the Palacio Marquesal de San Clemente, whose construction was ordered by Don Francisco Marías de Bustos y Moya, the first Marquis of San Clemente. Nationalized by decree in 1831, it was destroyed in 1897 to make way for the new Congress of the State of Guanajuato. The seat of the state's legislative powers was built by an English architect and inaugurated with great fanfare in 1903.
