CALLEJÓN DEL BESO
Narrow street on top of a hill in Guanajuato, where houses almost touch and kisses can be exchanged from the balcony
The "kissing alley" is a very narrow street on top of a hill. The houses almost touch each other, so that kisses can be exchanged from one balcony to the other. Legend has it that the daughter of a Spanish settler fell in love with a miner against her father's wishes, in search of a wealthy son-in-law. In order to continue to see his sweetheart, the miner bought the house opposite his, in this alley. The lovebirds were able to exchange kisses every night on the balcony, until the father realized this and, furious, stabbed his daughter.
