For this eccentric festival, the locals dress up in crazy costumes, parade and dance while throwing candy to the crowd.
The Desfile de Los Locos is celebrated the weekend following the day of San Antonio de Pádua (June 13). On this occasion, the people of San Miguel de Allende hold a parade through the city, dressed as animals, politicians and transvestites, to thank Saint Anthony of Padua for the favors granted during the year. During the parade, the streets of the city are filled with a thousand colors and the participants dance and throw sweets to the crowd. Because of its eccentricity, this celebration is known as the "Festival of the Fools"
