MUSEO REGIONAL DE QUERETARO
The San Francisco convent was the first religious building to be built in Querétaro at the beginning of the 16th century, although its current appearance corresponds to the changes made in the 18th century; it has been a museum since 1936. The ground floor presents the archaeology of the three geocultural groups of the State (the valleys, the semi-desert area and the Sierra) as well as the ethnography of the Otomis and Chichimec groups. A section is dedicated to the Spanish occupation. On the first floor, where Queretaro's participation in the Independence and the Mexican Revolution is traced, note above all the Baroque room and the room dedicated to Maximilian. Several pieces from the El Cerrito archaeological site are on display.
