This trip to Majunga or Mahajanga to the north-west of Madagascar was mainly intended to discover Antsanitia which is an eco-resort which contributes enormously to the tourist development of the region by ensuring that the inhabitants of surrounding villages are involved well. Majunga is located on the Mozambique Canal at the mouth of the Betsiboka River. The overflight of the river's arms in the middle of the forest at the end of the day was magnificent. Twenty minutes of trails allowed to find themselves in a small bungalow surrounded by greenery facing the sea with the sun that slept and the fishing boats returning after a hard day of work.
The first day is dedicated to discovering the surrounding area and it is Tsiravay, head of the village of Belamonty and his son Rijaly who manages the activities of Antsanitia Resort, which makes me take the canoe towards Lake Mangatsa, which is considered one of the most sacred lakes throughout the country. A walk in the countryside and the opportunity to discover local fauna and flora, eat a few ripe mangoes picked directly on the tree and listen to the legends around this lake. If my wish is realized, I will have to return and sacrifice a zebu, tradition obliges. This simple and traditional life of Sakalava, the region's dominant ethnic group is a beautiful discovery.
