DOMAINE GRAND'COUR
Given a chance to dine in a restaurant with one of the wines of Domaine Grand'Cour, receive it delicately for this wine was created with utmost care and respect by Jean-Pierre Pellegrin, a traditional Genevan winemaker and oenologist, and if you choose to visit the estate in the charming Peissy village, endeavour to take an appointment because the estate is open to the public only twice a year, first in May during open days and secondly in November during the surly wine festival of the village. The old stone winery with its hundreds of oak barrels from the François Frères cooperage and its nine amphoras is worth a visit; it is from here that the traditional wine maker draws his inspiration, seeking to extract from his 15 hectares, subtle blends bearing the: "I seek for pleasure and not efficiency" stamp of quality. Over 25 varieties are cultivated on rolling hills by the creator: chardonnay, white and gray pinot, auxerroi, Kerner, white Sauvignon, Viognier, gamay, black pinot, merlot, cabernet franc and sauvignon, gamaret, syrah etc. Be they blends or varietal wines, these grapes like the Grand'Cour Red (70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon), which is among the most flexible Bordeaux-style blend of the canton, will please the most demanding palates.
