ASCENSOR CONCEPCIÓN
The city's very first elevator linking the Elías Passage to the Gervasoni Promenade on Concepción Hill.
On December1, 1883, the Concepción elevator, the city's very first, was inaugurated: today, it's the city's oldest working elevator. It connects the Passage Elías, opposite the Turri clock on the city map, "el plano", to the Promenade Gervasoni on the Concepción hill. At the time, the cabins were made of wood and operated on a system of hydraulic counterweights. Today, the system is electric. In 2022, after two long years of restoration, the elevator finally resumed operation!
