PLAZA VICTORIA
Lovely square with beautiful trees, featuring a cathedral, churches of the Holy Spirit and fashionable elegants, and an opera house.
The beautiful Plaza Victoria is bordered by the cathedral of Valparaíso, built in the 1930s to 1950s. With its beautiful trees, this square is undoubtedly one of the most pleasant in Valparaíso. It faces a second square with sculptures and a bronze fountain, Simón Bolívar Square. These two squares were the chic centre of the city towards the end of the 19th century, as they were home to the Church of the Holy Spirit, the fashionable church for the elegant, and also the Victoria Opera House, where people liked to strut their stuff.
