Former prison turned cultural center with large, pleasant garden, theater and exhibition hall.
In place of the old prison, which gave its name to the hill, there is one of the most interesting cultural parks in Chile since 2012. The prison was built in 1853 and was a detention center during the dictatorship. Closed in 1999, the prison became a cultural center until the inauguration of the park. The park has a large and pleasant garden, a theatre and an exhibition hall. Excellent cultural events throughout the year.

Je m'y suis rendu de nombreuses fois, ai pu participer à une exposition sur les illusions d'optique et ce gratuitement. Enfin, il y a de temps en temps des événements comme la fête du cirque et l'enceinte du parc peut être réquisitionnée lors de catastrophes naturelles (en avril 2014, il a servi de centre de collecte de nourriture non périssable et vêtements provenant de tout le Chili afin de venir en aide aux victimes de l'incendie qui a détruit plus de 3000 habitations).
Je recommande ce parc si vous habitez Valparaiso ou si vous y êtes de passage pour vous reposer un instant, et puis en plus il se situe à proximité du quartier touristique! La ligne de bus 607 vous y emmènera depuis Viña del Mar ou le centre de Valparaiso au pire ;)
