The Chapuzón del Estrecho gathers thousands of brave swimmers ready to brave the icy waters of the Strait of Magellan
A true regional tradition, the "Chapuzón del Estrecho" gathers every year thousands of participants ready to challenge the icy waters of the Strait of Magellan. Started in 2008 in Punta Arenas, this event was born from a joke between six young people and has now become a national event! The ritual? To rush into the water, braving the freezing temperature (around 0°C!), after having sung the Chilean national anthem. A challenge converted into a tourist attraction that will test the most courageous!
