To discover the park in good conditions, it is necessary to prepare your visit. Indeed, even in summer, the climatic conditions are changeable and it is not rare that it snows whereas the sun shone a few hours before. It is therefore important to provide adequate equipment for those who want to make a trek of several days: waterproof leather walking shoes, several pairs of socks, synthetic inner clothes that do not absorb water (no cotton or jeans), windbreaker, hat, sunglasses, very warm down, waterproof tent, walking stick, food (the supply stations in the park are quite expensive), gas cooker, headlamp, first aid kit (sunscreen, aspirin, anti-inflammatory, bandages, disinfectant, headbands, thermometer, Swiss Army knife...). A GPS or at least a compass is necessary if you hike for several days. Above all, it is strictly forbidden to make fire in the park!

The influx of tourists in summer. Fortunately, they are concentrated in a few areas and those who undertake long treks will be able to enjoy the park in total calm. Campers, remember that your "enemies" are not the other campers, but the organized groups that sometimes get off the catamaran at Paine Grande Lodge and go to the Grey Refuge.

There are two options for visiting this wonderful natural site: by walking every day without ever sleeping in the same place; or by settling somewhere and gravitating (on foot or by car) around it in order to discover the different trails of the site.

Important: the times indicated on all the maps are averages; on routes such as the one up to the Torres, it is possible to go faster, if you are used to walking. The goal is not to do the whole loop in record time, but a very good hiker can do long distances in a day, especially in summer. Finally, if many of you will leave for 4 to 7 days of walking, following the two famous circuits that we mention below, know that some small one-day circuits are much less known, and just as magnificent: for example the path that leads to the Laguna Verde, or the one that reaches the Zapata refuge. Do not hesitate to make these small detours. In reality, to get a good idea of the park, one week is the minimum, and ten days is a must.
