RIAD FÈS

The history of this exceptional riad is ancient, going back to the time when the Pasha invited wealthy newcomers to build in this forgotten part of the medina. A family of wealthy merchants, impressed by the size of the buildings they discovered during their travels in various European capitals, decided to build here, at the very beginning of the 20th century, a luxurious residence in the greatest respect of Moroccan tradition - zelliges and sculpted plasters - but with much larger dimensions than usual. After having passed from hand to hand over the past century, it is finally an inspired architect who is working on renovating the site to make it a real jewel with all the modern conveniences. When this Relais & Châteaux house was opened, the result was exceptional. The 1,500 m² of space is divided into 5 buildings with a different character, distributed around patios: the main one is in the typical Fassi style (profusion of mosaics); the second one, flanked by a very good restaurant where breakfast is served, is Arab-Andalusian; the third one is Baroque (made of black marble); the fourth one is furnished with beautiful vegetation (the citrus patio); the last one, bearing large carved wooden panels dating from 1850, houses two hammam rooms and four treatment rooms, not far from a splendid swimming pool with bar. The 31 rooms and suites are sumptuous. An extraordinary address.
