PALAIS AMANI
In the heart of the medina, this luxury riad is a true haven of peace, offering calm and voluptuousness to all those who pass through its doors.
It is a place with an astonishing history that this very luxurious riad of Arab-Andalusian architecture, organized around a magnificent 600 m2 patio full of fruit trees and citrus scents. Acquired by a rich family of merchants - the Lahlou family - in 1920, the house was damaged by an earthquake a few years later, pushing the owners to carry out major renovations using the modern techniques of the time, but also taking inspiration from the Art Deco style very popular in the 1930s. The residence was inhabited for forty years by about fifty members of the same family faithful to the Fassi culture, before being gradually abandoned. Bought by the current owners in 2006, it took no less than four years of work until spring 2010 to obtain this splendid result: the well named Amani Palace (aman means desire in Arabic, the one to welcome in this case) finally opens its doors! Spread over two floors, there are 18 classic rooms and suites combining refined style, modern conveniences and touches of Fassi art. A hammam and a spa are available to enhance your stay (open to non-residents), while on the flat roofs, you will have the opportunity to contemplate the city, from breakfast to dinner. Add to that a restaurant of traditional Moroccan cuisine with a modern twist (on Fridays, couscous is in the spotlight!) and a cooking school - the excellent Fez Cooking School -, and the count is good. A very beautiful address which makes it possible, without neglecting comfort, to grasp the Fassi culture a little closer. Highly recommended.
