MEDERSA BOU INANIA
The last medersa on Talaa Sghira in Fez, it is the largest with a unique marble-paved courtyard
On Talaaa Sghira, about 150 m after Bab Boujloud. The last medersa built by the Merinids in Fez is also the largest. It was built between 1350 and 1357 on the order of Sultan Abu Inan, whose name it kept. It contains all the characteristics of medersas, or Koranic schools. The only particularity of Bou Inania is the courtyard, paved with marble. A diversion of the Fez wadi was carried out, to bring the water into the medersa, which was used by the faithful arriving on foot to practice their ablutions before praying.
