Mausoleum of the famous Algerian saint Sheikh Ahmed Tijani, where many African disciples come to pray and meditate at his tomb
Located near the Grand Mosque Karaouiyine, this mausoleum is dedicated to the memory of the famous Algerian saint Sheikh Ahmed Tijani. Born near Laghouat in Algeria, he moved to Fez to teach his Sufi-influenced doctrine, and went on to found an important Islamic brotherhood known as the Tidjaniya, present in the Maghreb but especially in Black Africa. Many of his African disciples come to pray and meditate at the saint's tomb, often on their return from the pilgrimage to Mecca.
