BAB BOUJLOUD
Decorated gateway to the heart of the medina, ideal for unguided strolls
Built in the 13th century, the most famous of the gates of Fez marks the entrance to Fez el-Bali. Richly decorated, it combines blue earthenware in the colours of Fez and green earthenware, the symbol of Islam. It is an important landmark: from here, you can follow the signposted route through the medina. From Bab Boujloud, for the walks without a guide, follow either Talaa Seghira on the right or Talaa Kbira on the left. These two streets are good landmarks, especially for accessing the heart of the medina.
