TRIUMPHAL ARCH

A monument dating from the century and erected in honor of the emperor Caracalla and Julia Domma, to be discovered in Volubilis.
Like the Capitoline, the Arc de Triomphe dates back to the 3rd century, and was erected in honor of the emperor Caracalla and his mother Julia Domna, no doubt in gratitude for a tax reduction. The monument is thought to have had an upper storey, rising to a height of almost 15 metres. Its collapsed vault has now been restored. Give yourself a few moments here to take in the immensity of the city, and to relax in the shade if you're visiting in summer, as the Arc de Triomphe is virtually the only shady spot on the site.
