After the harvest comes the most important moussem of Morocco. Many pilgrims gather at the tomb of the founder of Fez.
Considered as the "poor man's pilgrimage" for those who cannot go to Mecca, the moussem of Moulay Idriss is one of the most important in Morocco. It takes place in August and September, after the great harvest. The faithful come from all over the country to pay homage to the founder of the first Islamic dynasty of Morocco and thousands of tents flourish on the surrounding hills. Alongside the many sacrifices, offerings and prayers, the usual festivities take place, including folklore groups and fantasias..
