First-rate broodmare band with 270 animals, including less than 50 stallions, preserving the almost forgotten and little-used breed known as "la barbe"
Classified as a historical heritage site of the city, the Meknes stud farms are the largest in North Africa. They cover an area of 67 ha - 40 of which are occupied by the racecourse - and were founded by the French cavalry at the beginning of the protectorate in 1912. Today, there are about 270 animals, including just under 50 stallions. It is indeed a first-class marehouse, preserving in particular the almost forgotten and not very widespread breed known as "the beard". It is possible to ride on horseback with prior reservation.
