ATTICS-DAR EL-MA
Greniers-Dar El-Ma in Meknes, walled with 20 silos, stored food to feed the horses in his stable
This is the name given to the monument where the sultan stored the food intended to feed the horses in his stable. The walls have 20 silos, which, it can be seen, had no openings to the outside to prevent the wheat from rotting. Inside, the superb doorway comes from a Saadian palace destroyed by Moulay Ismaïl. It is said that the sultan kept this door for his motives, suns that testified to the Moroccan's admiration for Louis XIV. The sun has thus become the emblem of the Alaouites, who are still in power in Morocco today.
