This almohade mosque was consecrated in 1135, reworked by the Merinid and then by the Alawi. His minaret reveals the sobriety of the almohade architecture perfectly. The mosque is known for its ciselé and marqueté wooden minbar and for its sublime bronze chandelier, one of the oldest in the country. Right beside his side is the mederasa of Abu el-Hassan (1323) that one can ask to visit.
