Visit to discover the fishing port in Agadir, one of the most important in Morocco and the first sardine port in the world.

Agadir is one of Morocco's most important fishing ports, considered the world's leading sardine port. Thousands of sardines and other fish are exported from its quays all over the world. As such, the port area is well worth a visit in the morning or at the end of the day. Some parts of the harbor are overrun with brightly-colored old fishing boats, with nets and traps adding to the impression of disorder. Shipyards are scattered everywhere... Admire the clean lines of these old wooden trawlers undergoing restoration! Next to the fish market, fishermen sell their catches directly to consumers on the quayside, at rock-bottom prices. Inside the fish market, you can watch the joyous spectacle of the fish auction. The different types of buyers and sellers are distinguished by their uniforms, each group having its own color: the restaurateurs are in white, while the exporters are in red. Activity gets into full swing in the morning between 8 and 9 a.m., when the hubbub in the hall is at its height and negotiations are fierce. Grandstands are provided for observers, who are ideally placed to enjoy the show. There's no entrance fee, and you're free to sit wherever you like. In the port area, you'll find a large number of small, inexpensive and often delicious fish restaurants.
