Vestige of a superb Kasbat, built in order to defend itself against the Portuguese, in Taroudant.
It was built in the 16th century by the Saadians to defend themselves against the Portuguese. Although located within the kasbah, the Palais Salam hotel (temporarily closed) is only accessible from outside the ramparts. The rest of the kasbah consists mainly of ruins of no particular interest. With its crenellations and ochre hues, it is absolutely stunning at sunset. Next to the kasbah, you can see one of the many royal residences, the Dar el-Baroud palace, which is not open to visitors.
