NIAGARA PARKS POWER STATION
New attraction not to be missed in Niagara! Also worth doing: the tunnel to the base of the falls and the immersive show.
Clearly one of the most exciting new attractions in Niagara Falls! The former power plant, the first of its size on the Canadian side of the Niagara River, now welcomes visitors for an unusual tour. The tour is divided into three parts:
The power plant. First and foremost, we recommend paying the extra fee to have a guided tour of the site, a much more rewarding experience than a stand-alone tour. The guides know the history of the power plant inside and out (with anecdotes to boot), which operated for a century under the management of the Canadian Niagara Power Company, harnessing the powerful energy of the Horseshoe Falls. Artifacts, interactive exhibits and interpretive facilities are available and well worth a visit after the guided tour.
The Tunnel. Once the tour is over, you descend 55 m underground to a 670 m long tunnel that leads to an observation platform right next to the falls. Ponchos are provided free of charge but remember to dress warmly as the tunnel is very, very wet.
The immersive Currents experience. In the evening, the power plant transforms into an incredible immersive experience, even interactive as some projections react to our movements. The Niagara Falls Power Pass includes all three experiences, but it is possible to purchase a ticket for the night show only.
