NIAGARA PARKS POWER STATION
Niagara's newest must-see attraction! Also worth seeing: the tunnel to the foot of the falls and the immersive show.
Clearly one of the best attractions in Niagara Falls (you'll come away both educated and amazed)! The former power station, the first of its kind on the Canadian side of the Niagara River, now welcomes visitors for an extraordinary tour. The tour is divided into three parts:
The power station. First and foremost, we recommend paying the supplement for a guided tour of the site, a far more enriching experience than a self-guided tour. The guides have the history of the power station down to a fine art (with anecdotes thrown in for good measure), which operated for a century under the management of the Canadian Niagara Power Company, harnessing the powerful energy of the Horseshoe Falls. Artifacts, interactive exhibits and interpretive facilities are on hand and well worth a visit after the guided tour.
The tunnel. Once the tour is over, you descend 55 m underground through a 670 m long tunnel that leads to an observation platform right next to the falls. Ponchos are provided, but remember to dress warmly as the tunnel is very damp.
The immersive Currents experience. In the evening, the power station transforms into an incredible immersive experience, even interactive as some projections react to our movements. The Niagara Falls Power Pass includes all three experiences, but it is possible to purchase a ticket for the night show only.
