CATHEDRAL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (СВЯТО СВЯТО-СОБОР ДУХОВ СОБОР)
It is the main Orthodox church in Minsk. Built from 1642 to 1687, it belonged to the beginning of the order of Bernardins. In 1852, following the closure of order, the church became orthodox. From 1918 to 1943, its premises were occupied by the fire brigade, then by the archives. Built on the highest hill in Minsk in the baroque style Vilenski, very widespread in Belarus in the 34 th century, this beautiful white cathedral and its two towers of metres dominate the buildings around. The pediment is decorated with a rare mosaic of the Virgin. Saint Michel is represented on the left of the entrance, Saint Gabriel on the right. The central altar has a wooden iconostasis on four levels. On the left of the altar, we see the miraculous icon of the Virgin of Minsk, the protector of the city. The whole gives on the river Svislač. The panoramic terrace offers a splendid panorama on the modern city and the Faubourg Troitskoe.
