PLACE D'OCTOBRE (ПЛОЩАДЬ ПЛОЩАДЬ)

It is the geographical and cultural centre of the city. At the centre of the square, a small pyramid marks the zero kilometre, the beginning of all the roads in Belarus. The square is dominated by the Palace of the Republic (Дворец Республики), the largest concert hall throughout the city. If you cross the Nezavisimosti perspective, you arrive at the officers'house (Дворец офицеров). Then, to lcvs. Karla Blvd 38 is the residence of the President. In the central garden is the oldest fountain in Minsk which represents a child with a swan (1864).
