In 1180, the architects of the Grodno school built this church. Located next to the Old Castle, it dominates the Nemunas. Consecrated to the saints Boris and Gleb, it is nicknamed Koloza in the th century, the name of a suburb of Pskov, birthplace of the prisoners that the Prince Vytautas the Great had taken here in a military campaign. During the flood of 1853, half of the church is lost by the Nemunas. This part will be rebuilt in wood at the beginning of the th century. The church is a real jewel. Built in fine red bricks, its facade is decorated with maïolique tiles and carved stones. The inlaid amphorae in the walls of the church, typical of the religious architecture of the time, guarantee excellent acoustics and ease the structure.
