NEW CASTLE (НОВЫЙ НОВЫЙ)
Built between 1734 and 1751 in the rococo style and intended to host the meetings of the Parliament of the Republic of Two Nations, this castle witnessed the tragic events that marked the end of this State. In 1793 Prussia and the Russian Empire decided to unify the Republic at the «Silent Meeting». It was definitively completed in 1795 after the abdication of King Stanislas Auguste Poniatowski. Completely destroyed during the Second World War, the castle was reborn in 1952. Only the sphinx and the inlet arch are of origin. Today the castle houses the regional library.
