MONASTERY OF СВЯТО (ŽYROVIČY-УСПЕНСКИЙ ŽYROVIČY УСПЕНСКИЙ)
The monastery complex consists of several parts: three churches, a seminar, housing and a canteen for students. Not far from the monastery, in the cemetery, is the small wooden church Saint-Georges (th century).
Church of the Appearance (Явленская Церковь). This church was built in 1672 at the place where the Virgin appeared a second time with the icon in 1521. It is the oldest church in the monastery, although in the th century it underwent some changes. Its main icon represents the Virgin with a small icon in your hands. The altar was built from the rock on which the Virgin was seated when it appeared in 1521. The iconostasis dates back to the th century. There is no heating or lighting in the church.
Church of l'Assomption (Свято-Успенский Собор). Built in 1650, this impressive church was rebuilt during the first half of the th century. The frescoes on the walls all date from the Soviet era, carried out by the monks, at night, in secret. The central iconostasis consists of icons from the end of the th century. Tiny and stone, the miraculous icon of the Virgin at the origin of the monastery's founding lies in front of the iconostasis.
Church of the Cross of the Cross (Крестовоздвиженская Церковь). Built in baroque style in 1769 on a hill, its interior reproduces the calvary of Jesus. A staircase of 28 steps symbolizes the marble staircase that Jesus climbed to learn the judgement of Pon с e Pilate (la Scala Santa, preserved in Rome). Initially each walk contained the ashes of a saint, and the believers carried the stairs on their knees. At the beginning of the th century, the ashes were carried in the crucifix in the church of l'Assomption. The frescoes are recent since the church was severely damaged during the Soviet era.
