The city hotel was built in 1775 to replace the old city hotel built after the right of Magdeburg. It features both late Baroque and classicism elements. The inhabitants of Vitebsk call it Kalantcha («fire tour»), because in Tsarist times it was housed in barracks. Today, it hosts a museum of regional history (open daily from 10 a. m. to 18 p. m., closed on Monday, entered: 2,50 BYN).
