Life-size statue of the man and his bandoneon, near Rambla Playa Bristol, paying tribute to tango composer Astor Piazzolla

In 2011, the city pays homage to its most illustrious citizen, the brilliant tango composer and one of the most famous in the world, Astor Piazzolla born in Mar del Plata in 1921, by installing near the Rambla Playa Bristol a life-size statue of the man and his bandoneon. The work of the artist Carlos Benavídez is one more tribute to the musician who has already given his name to a school in the city, to its international airport and to the award of its famous film festival.
