MUSEO MUNICIPAL DE ARTE JUAN CARLOS CASTAGNINO
Magnificent family villa in Mar del Plata, remodeled and transformed into a "French manor house" and then into an "Anglo-Norman manor house"
A testimony to the opulence of the bourgeois families who came to spend the summer in Mar del Plata at the beginning of the 20th century, this magnificent villa built in 1909 belonged to the Ortiz Basualdo family. In 1919, it was redesigned and transformed from a "French manor" into an "Anglo-Norman manor", with its characteristic half-timbering. The interior furniture was designed by the architect and decorator Gustave Serrurier-Bovy, one of the main representatives of Art Nouveau in Belgium.
