TORREON DEL MONJE
Medieval-style building on the Punta waterfront, now an exhibition space and restaurant for dinner shows
This medieval-style waterfront building in Punta Piedras intrigues with its kitsch architecture. The reasons for the construction of this 1904 building remain uncertain. Local legend has it that workers discovered a chest containing a map, a manuscript and fifty gold coins. On the plan was drawn a tower, signed by the hand of the religious Fray Ernesto Tornero. It was then decided that the architecture of the building would follow this plan. Today it is an exhibition space, but above all a restaurant offering dinner shows.
